Our walk takes us firstly through woodland that skirts the 365 acres of Chillingham Park, with wildlife in abundance, in particular the fifty species of birds - and if you're lucky, maybe a glimpse of the famous Chillingham Wild White Cattle. Climbing up gradually through Chillingham Wood we cross moorland, skirting around Amersidelaw Moor to reach a wonderful viewpoint at Kay Hill, where on a clear day you can see across the Cheviot Hills range and into the Borders. Looping back through the wood, we retrace our footsteps to the car park, where you can take a guided tour of the Chillingham Cattle's home or visit Chillingham Castle. Britain's most haunted castle, little more than a tower in the 13th Century, it was added to and then subjected to 16th Century battles before further additions up to the 19th Century. It is now privately owned.
