Despite its short length this walk will take you quite high and to the very fringe of Bowland. At Waymark 12 there is a sign for the new access land next to the footpath. Consequently for most of the time there are good views (Bowland, Pendle, Longridge Fell, even a glimpse of Beacon Fell) with a very gradual climb and no steep descents. Chipping, with its pubs and tea room, makes a very pleasant base for the day.

This walk provided beautiful views the whole way and it was one of the best for directions that we've done. There are a lot of stiles which were no problem with our two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels but may be a little more difficult with a bigger dog. It was very muddy from way marker 23 to the finish after recent rain but the car park has a boot washing facility which became a very useful dog washing facility too! At £2 for the whole day and to take home clean boots and dogs, a real bargain! Thank you Jim for a lovely walk.

Beautiful walk on a lovely winter's day, marred only by the local inhabitants out on the fells shooting at birds. Clear views in all directions and so quiet (apart from the guns). Is this really necessary? The peace and tranquillity is one of the reasons we love the Ribble Valley - no sounds of motorway! There is now an hourly bus service (no. 4) direct from Preston.
