Cholsey - Aston Tirrold - Blewbury - Upton - Chilton - Cholsey
Starting from Cholsey Rail Station (so you have the option of leaving your car at home), the walk heads westwards into the countryside before reaching the picturesque village of Aston Tirrold. Passing by three churches, the walk takes in a variety of historical villages.
Heading west once more, the walk passes by Blewburton to reach the village of Blewbury, again with an assortment of historical buildings.
Leaving Blewbury, the walk heads westwards across open fields to reach pretty village number three, Upton, where you can stop for lunch at the George and Dragon as well as viewing the old Upton Station building.
The next stage is one for the railway fan. The walk tracks the cutting of the now closed Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Line as it gradually rises before crossing at an old railway bridge. Arriving in the village of Chilton, there is an opportunity to rest and eat your food near to the village church or eat at the Rose and Crown pub.
Leaving Chilton, the walk heads into the countryside with a 'Ridgeway' feel about it. Between Waymarks 18 and 19, our disused railway makes an appearance on our left once more before we cross it for the last time.
The route heads onwards past gallops on your left before heading north and downhill, with great views on both sides. After saying hello to some pigs, the walk returns to Ason Tirrold before heading across open fields and back to Cholsey.
