Churchill - Sandford - Strawberry Line - Dolebury Warren - Churchill

Cross the sports pitches and pass round the back of the village to take paths across fields. Enter woodland, passing a dry ski-slope centre to emerge at Sandford. From here you take a stretch of the Strawberry Line before returning via more woodland and fields.

I've only recently started using WalkingWorld and I'm probably just coming up to double figures on walks taken, but for me this was the perfect walk. It involves hidden footpaths amazing views and for me a real sense of achievement when finished. Guide was informative but not too obvious just the way I like it. I would just like to point out that between 19 and 20 there is a bench on which to get your breath back after the steep ascent and admire the view across the valley to Wavering Down and Crooks Peak. On a good day that is one of the highlights of the walk. Points to note that in wet conditions that some of the descents will be quite slippery, there now seem to be two goats at 12 and some very friendly donkeys near Uplands Holiday Cottages.
