This walk, just a couple of miles from the M5 Junction 6, starts from Claines Church and the very highly esteemed Mug House pub which serves weekday lunches. It is supposedly one of only two pubs in England which resides in a churchyard. Passing Bevere Vivis art gallery, the walk continues along the banks of the River Severn past Bevere Weir.
Bevere Weir is worth seeing; it has been described as 'fearsome', especially when the river is swollen due to heavy rain. Notable wildlife along the river includes kingfisher, snipe, great spotted woodpecker and reed bunting. There is ample opportunity for picnics by the river. Bevere Vivis art gallery and cafe (which you pass on the way back as well as near to the start) has free admission and attracts visitors from far and wide.
