Clifford Chambers - Atherstone-on-Stour - Preston-on-Stour - Wimpstone - Clifford Chambers
Clifford Chambers is located 2.5 miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon, mainly to the south-west of the River Stour, which forms part of its boundary. The village was in Gloucestershire until 1931 when it became part of Warwickshire. From here the walk takes us to Atherstone-on-Stour, which is a hamlet on the edge of the Alscot Estate, home of the West family for over two hundred years. There are superb views of Alscot House en route to Preston-on-Stour, which must be one of the prettiest villages in Warwickshire with its variety of period property, including black and white half-timbered thatched cottages. From Wimpstone the return journey passes through Preston again and winds along lanes affording far-reaching views of Meon Hill and beyond before descending back to Clifford Chambers.
