From the top of the pass below Moel Famau, Offa's Dyke Path is followed for a short distance before the route takes us away on little-walked paths and a steep ascent of Moel-y-Gaer. Easier paths lead back to Offa's Dyke Trail and the main route to Moel Famau with the remains of its monument.

2 criticisms - firstly the walk does not start at Moel Famau country park but at Bwlch Penbarras car park which is half a mile further on. Secondly the ascent between 8 and 9 is a very tough climb and virtually impassable due to the gorse and bracken and could be dangerous.
