A superb circular walk starting from Cocking Down car park, it begins with a fairly gentle climb along the South Downs Way. You are soon rewarded with fantastic views for many miles around. Then woodland bridleways take you through Westdean Woods to the Sussex Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, with a chance to see deer along the way. Apart from a few paces on a quiet lane, there is no road-work to endure and as there are only a couple of stiles, it is suitable for all reasonably fit members of the family, a good walk for all times of the year as it is usually pretty firm underfoot. My dog managed the stiles and gates with ease and thoroughly enjoyed himself!

This walk is great for those who want to begin rambling. The views are gorgeous - take a picnic and enjoy them whilst having a cup of tea! Car park can be very busy so carry on down the road and take a right turn into a lane at the village. You can park up the lane and pick up the walk from here.

Walked 14.03.2021. This is a really good walk and easy to follow. The first section is a long steady climb but you are rewarded with lovely views. Woodland sections are really very pleasant (even in late winter), would be worth doing in the Summer when everything is lush but still great at any time of year. Varied, good directions and about the right distance. 9/10.

Really lovely walk. Thank-you for putting it on this site. Only problem is it can be difficult to park at Cocking Car Park.

Very enjoyable walk, easy navigation, with good views even on a rather hazy day and plenty of variety and wildlife (especially pheasants and deer).
