An enjoyable morning or afternoon walk - more strenuous than taking the mountain railway, which starts at the same place. The walk is across open moorland, climbing from 600m at the car park to 900m at the lochan. Very pleasant walking in good weather; but requires suitable clothing, experience of high-level walking, and a degree of fitness in bad weather. Boots are necessary and some boulder-hopping is required. Refreshments are available at the car park.
