A delightful circuit starts with a steep climb to the top of Mont Chery, where there are fantastic views of the whole region, including Mont Blanc, the Dents du Midi and le Roc d'Enfer.

The initial climb gets all the uphill over and done with at the start, but it is a bit of a slog. From there however, it's a gentle descent all the way back and you can even stop off at le Mont Caly at the bar and restaurant.

All along, the views are stunning. This is a great first walk in the region to loosen up your muscles and familiarise yourself with the mountains, towns and villages. In good weather the Mont Blanc massif towers above everything else.

The return is on a pretty forest track. Once back in l'Encrenaz there's a bar to have a nice warm drink or an ice cream, depending on the weather!

For an alternative to the summit of Mont Chery without the slog at the beginning, look at Walk 4455.
