A pleasant circular walk commencing near a fabulous garden centre, heading across country towards the coast and taking in part of the Durham Coastal Route, with stunning views across the clifftops, reaching the delightful dene of Hawthorn and returning across country to the start of the walk. You could even do a short diversion at Hawthorn Village to take refreshments at the local public house, The Stapylton Arms.

This is a lovely walk with countryside, coastal walk, a wooded dene and a quiet village however the pub and parking at the start point no longer exists. They have been demolished and houses built. Parking at Dalton Park would be a good alternative.
