An easy circular walk for all the family, starting from The Coach and Horses in the delightful village of Compton. There is also an opportunity to shorten the walk part-way round, should the kids find it a bit tiring! The climbs are gentle but rewarding, with far-reaching views across West Sussex and Hampshire. With a varied route taking you along well-defined grassy field-paths, through woodland and along trackways, all of which are usually firm underfoot even in the winter. There is a good chance that you will see some deer along the way and you can visit the 'church in the field', St Hubert's, dated 1083AD with 14th Century wall paintings. Be assured of a good welcome for all the family, including your dog, at the pub when you have finished your walk. Here you will find an open fire and good home cooking to do justice to your appetite. For those of you walking with dogs, you may find it useful to know that my dog, a slim, fit Labrador who cannot jump, managed this walk with ease.

Walked 02.05.2021. OMG OMG OMG! This walk is simply stunning! On good tracks/paths, gentle climbs and far reaching views throughout. This walk made us feel like we had driven a very long way for a holiday and was in somewhere like the Peak District!. It's amazing and is definately one to repeat again and again. I cannot rate this highly enough! There are no cattle on the walk (as of May 2021), the only field we walked through with livestock was sheep. Simply amazing, great directions. 20/10!
