The walk starts from the picnic site at Conder Green, a few miles south of Lancaster. A disused railway track, now a cycle route, is followed to Glasson Dock where the Glasson spur of the Lancaster canal is followed past the marina at Galgate. A footpath is then picked up that goes directly across pastures back past The Stork at Conder Green and to the nearby car park and picnic site. The walk can also be started from Galgate which is on the A6, making it convenient for buses from Lancaster and Preston.
