Conder Green picnic site, the base for the walk, is on the banks of the Lune a few miles south of Lancaster. The walk begins by going north along the track of a disused railway, now a cycleway, before following lanes and tracks eastwards towards the Lancaster Canal. This is followed south through deep cuttings rich in wildlife before a path is taken going westwards through pastures back to the Stork Inn and then the Café de Lune by the car park and picnic site. The walk can be started from Galgate which adds a little to the mileage but which also enables public transport to be used as it is on the A6 connecting Preston and Lancaster.

Another great Jim Grindle walk. Lovely wildlife and easy walking. The cafe at the start of the walk has changed its name to Green Finch Cafe. It was closed at the time of my visit due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
