This is a walk and an area to which you will want to return again and again. The stretches beside the river Stour are ideal for picnics in the summer months. It is not surprising that it provided the inspiration for a large number of the paintings of John Constable, including 'The Hay Wain', recently voted Britain's second favourite This walk complements the others on Walkingworld, listed as Constable Country 1 and 2 (Walks 3210 and 3209). You will also pass the childhood home of Constable in East Bergholt.
It can get quite muddy in the winter months, so appropriate footwear is advised.
