This is a pleasant riverside and woodland walk, which will be of particular interest to those who enjoy birdwatching. This stretch of the river is tidal, giving good opportunity to watch many types of birds feeding; in addition to the river birds there are many types of woodland species. Also en route is the Washington Waterfowl Park, reached quite early on in the walk, so allow plenty of time if you wish to visit.

The stone bridge is now replaced by a new steel one and footpath which leaves the river at waypoint 11 and goes directly to the A19 flyover is closed so you have to follow the river path round the bend until you come to the flyover then cross the river via the footpath and return on the other side or walk up to the A183 and follow this down to the A19 It is a very pleasant walk by the river so just keep to the marked footpath.
