This section of the Southern Upland Way is easily accessible by car from Peebles. As you walk in from the road end, the ruined Blackhouse Tower comes into view.

After passing a farm steading the path climbs steeply up through mixed woodland to emerge onto open moorland, where you have extensive views over the hills towards the small town of Innerleithen. The walk is further enhanced if undertaken in August or September by experiencing the heather in full bloom.
