There are no difficult stiles. There is a gentle climb through the beautiful woodland of Shrubland Park which is rewarded by a great view over Coddenham at the top. Two trunk roads have to be crossed, the A14 and the A140, both perfectly crossable given reasonable care and patience. It might take five or ten minutes to wait for a suitable gap in the traffic, but such gaps do occur! There are two pubs close to the line of the walk: The Duke's Head at Coddenham is only open at lunchtime on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays and does not provide food; The Highwayman on the A140 closes on Mondays but is open on other days from 12 to 3pm and from 6.30 to 11; bar meals and restaurant food are available at lunchtime from 12 to 2:30pm and from 6:30 to 9:30 in the evening.

This walk is one of five linked walks. The ID numbers of the walks are 4697, 4723, 4745, 4760 and 4781. Each walk is circular and includes a stretch of the magnificent Gipping Valley River Path. If you do all the walks in ascending numerical order, as shown above, you will, in the process, have completed the whole of the GVRP.
