Our walk takes us from the Cresswell Pond Nature Reserve and along country 'lonnens' to reach the village of Ellington. Skirting around the village, we walk down to the coast road, where evidence of the local coal industry can be clearly seen along the coastline that we follow to Cresswell. Here we can indulge in an Italian ice cream, well-known in the area, with people travelling from all around to sample the delights. The route then takes us along the golden sands of Druridge Bay to reach the nature reserve from where we started.

My husband and I did this walk on Sunday 25th September 2011. I say walk but I use this term lightly as it was more like a trek through a jungle it was so over grown. In places it was difficult to believe that it was a bridlepath. In the wooded area we came to an area that was flooded and looked like it had been like that for some time and had to find an alternative path as our feet were just sinking into the mud. After that not bad going till the track up to Cresswell Home Farm which must be a dog walker's favourite route; not much picking up takes place there. Weather was good though.

Please note that due to the current wet weather the raised walkway across the pond is totally submerged and an alternative route has to be taken
