From the car park the route eventually goes along an old miners' broad path with excellent views down into the Derwent Valley and across to Crich Stand and the Tower. Then it follows an ancient lane and passes through a wood and onto Watfield Farm.

A few typical Derbyshire fields are then passed through, with glorious scenery all round. A lane walk is then undertaken with a good view down to Wirksworth on the left.

The route next goes through the Black Rocks Plantation and drops down to the High Peak Trail (once a railway line for commercial use). A lovely view unfolds over Matlock Bath before the last half-mile is walked back to the starting point.

Walked on 6/8/17. Between WP9 and 10, the "gateless opening in the wall to the front" now has a locked metal gate across it and no way marker. Climbed the gate, followed the instructions and found the wooden bridge.

If using GPS, make sure you alter the waypoint 12 co-ordinates to SK30168 53954 as the turn is way off.. If using paper instruction it's ok as described. Too many cows with young to negotiate, too many fields not good if you have a dog (we don't) Not the best walk Ray has uploaded by a long chalk!!
