6m Circular Walk starting from sports ground in Crook then north onto Birley Pond which was site of coal mine. Birley Wood leads through Elnup Woods along bank of Mill Brook. After crossing Mill Brook the route gently ascends to Birch Walk which leads to Standish Hall. Route then follows boundary of Standish Park and passes through Gidlow Cemetery before heading back to start via Giants Hall Farm and Standish Wood Lane. Good views of Beacon Park and Winter Hill ridges from high points.
