Croston is one of the prettiest villages in the area, with an attractive church reached by a cobbled street; a village green; the ancient (1682) Town Bridge and an equally old village school. Throw in two pubs and a tea room and you have a good start for a walk. The walk itself is a square with the River Yarrow to the south and the River Lostock to the north, the other sides being pastures. It is almost flat and has good signing and stiles, making a very pleasant afternoon's walk.
Please note that people have sometimes found the stretches by the rivers muddy and have chosen to take detours via the lanes. This won't add much to the length of the walk but (as always) do make sure you have the map!
