This circular walk is along footpaths which are quite often used, and it features the long bridle path walk along the riverbank. The scenery is varied and interesting, but not spectacular; and the paths over fields are all along the edge of them so the going is quite good. The route is good for all year-round walking; however, you can expect to find the occasional short swampy sections in winter or after heavy rain. Some fields are likely to have farm animals, they ignored me, but take a walking stick to fend them off if they get too nosey with you. There are a number of kissing and other gates, and a few stiles; all of them in fair condition. There are several slopes to walk up and down, but none of them are very steep. This walk includes instructions for moored river boat users.

It is probably suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best, especially in winter; and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there are refreshments and toilets at the pub at the start and finish; there are bench seats in a few places on the route and picnic tables by the Dutton Locks. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink in the pub at the start and end; an excellent finish to a good walk.
