The walk starts in the free car park at Croxteth Hall and follows a route under an archway into the grounds and up to the hall. The cafes and toilets are passed before the hall grounds are left on tracks leading out into open country and alongside Croxteth Brook. An easily followed, wide track leads through woodland back to the hall grounds with one road to go over by a crossing. This is the only really urban feature of the walk, although technically it is all in Liverpool. There are no stiles and the terrain is flat. After you have finished the walk it is worth exploring the many beautiful features in the grounds with the help of a 50p map and leaflet that you can buy in the shop at the entrance to the hall.
