This walk is right out in the wilds. There are only cattle, sheep and fishermen to be seen. The lake supplies the water for Porthmadoc and is set between Moel Hebog and Moel-ddu. On the hillside at the head of the lake can be seen remains of the quarry that served Ty Mawr Slate Mill, and higher up are the remains of hut circles from a very early settlement. Ty Mawr Slate Mill is reputed to be the finest mill in North Wales.

Completed this walk Sunday 25th March 2006. Very boggy on outward stretch - wellies essential - and just after the metal gate at 4 there is now a pallet on a bit of string instead of a gate.

Walk has been updated October 2005 to take into account path closure due to dangerous footbridge.

Just back from North Wales - did walk 1643 - first part now impossible as footpath is off limits, and second part of walk should be described as difficult as paths are dificult to follow, and are very wet and muddy!
