A very varied and pleasant walk. The river stretch is particularly attractive. A couple of points to note; i) the signpost mentioned in point 5 has almost fallen down and might easily be missed, ii) the walk is in fact 9.2 miles not 8. The distance was confirmed separately by a fellow walker.

A very enjoyable walk with good instructions. Lovely food at the Rodney pub. Recommended.

Walked the walk today a brightish autume day. Everyone enjoyed the variety - particularly autumn colours in the woodland stretches and the views across rural Essex. The cafe at Papermill Lock was a much appreciated lunch stop (excelent food). We will walk this route again and try out the pub!!

We done this walk twice 21/08/09 & 23/08/09, both warm sunny days. It was a very enjoyable walk. Be aware that the Rodney pub shuts during the week at 3pm, but the General Arms at point 16 is open all day. We thoroughly enjoyed this walk as we enjoyed the hill climbing, which is rare in Essex. And we will be doing it again.
