The walk can be started either at Daresbury, which gives the chance for refreshments and toilets at Walton Hall, or at the hall which has Daresbury as the halfway point with refreshments at the Dormouse Tearooms (but not on Monday or Tuesday) and with the Lewis Carroll Centre to visit. It follows the Bridgewater Canal for about half its length, goes around Appleton Reservoir and has as the only climb Kedleston Hill to Daresbury Firs.
