Starting from the Shops at Dartington centre, we walk along a quiet country lane in the Dartington Hall Estate to the gardens of the hall. After an optional look around the hall itself we travel down the long, tree-lined main drive of the hall, with extensive views over the River Dart to the ancient water meadow. Here there is an optional detour along the riverbank to the historic town of Totnes with its castle and museum.

We return along the riverbank to the water meadow, where we follow its side to a woodland track leading back to the shop centre.

The Dartington Hall gardens are open to the visiting public from dawn to dusk, throughout the year. You are asked to contribute £5 per person to help with the considerable costs of maintaining the Grade 2* Listed gardens. Groups of 10 or more should make an appointment. More information at www.dartington.org

Please note that dogs (apart from guide and help dogs) are not allowed in the gardens of Dartington Hall but are allowed on the wider estate if on a leash.
