I've long had an interest in military history, since moving to close to Rosyth Dockyard in Fife, I've been researching the sea defences constructed in both world wars to protect the naval base. This is the first of a short series of walks that visits these fascinating (well for me at least) sites. My research has recently been hugely assisted by the publication of Gordon Barclay's book 'Defending the Forth'.
This walk takes in a lovely secluded headland, amazing views across the Forth and a distant look at an ancient abbey.
It can be linked with my other walk 'Defending the Forth 1' to make a slightly longer walk.
