After visiting the beautiful and cheerful hermitage at Pare Pere, our way takes us up the well-formed track known as the Camino de las Colonias, offering the most wonderful panoramas. Eventually the track runs out and we continue on a rocky footpath that takes us down across a dry barranco bed and up the other side to the Cave de Gamell. From here we have a short, steep clamber up to the top, where we begin a long and easy ramble towards the lighthouse on Cape San Antonio. Crossing the Denia to Javea road, we continue and are soon at the site of the eleven restored windmills with wonderful views along the coast and down on the port and old town of Javea. We continue along well-marked tracks towards Cape San Antonio and just before the lighthouse we pick up a rocky footpath marked 'Ruta 9' which will twist and turn all the way down to the extreme end of Javea Port, where the fishing fleet is based. Unless you have prepositioned a vehicle here or are planning to double the walk length by retracing your footsteps to Denia, you will either have to take a taxi to the bus station or take a taxi back to Denia. Or how about taking the water-taxi back to Denia? More detail in Access information.
