Derwent Valley: Castleside - Hownsgill Viaduct - Waskerley Way - Castleside

A great circular walk starting in the shadow of Hownsgill Viaduct, going through woodland and returning on the Waskerley Way; a walk for all the family for all seasons.

I did the walk in November 2022. It's a beautiful walk with some fantastic views although at times the path under the viaduct was very wet it wasn’t a problem with decent walking boots. The Stanefordham pub is closed and is now a chip shop called the Golden Chippy. Some of the wooden steps down from the viaduct no longer exist, there are also some uprooted trees so the path down is not particularly easy.
