This is a great little walk through a little visited part of Leicestershire with a long history. The walk starts along a quiet country greenway and visits Desford with it's historical links to the UK aircraft industry before passing a bird sanctuary (worth a visit afterwards), then it visits a medieval moated site, evidence that this part of Leicestershire was once covered in Deer Parks and was home to the affluent at play. Then passes through Newbold Verdon an old village with links to the Leicestershires nearly vanished mining heritage, past another medieval moat site now damaged and off limits due to quarrying. Great countryside and enough to keep you interested
The walk traverses footpaths on agriculture land which may have been ploughed so will be muddy after rain, wellies will be needed in this case
