From the start at the Old Quay Inn, we begin by walking down towards Restronguet Creek. If the tide allows we could follow the edge of the creek and old quay and take the footpath across the mudflats, to reach the site of the old engine house of the former Carnon Mine (see additional information). If the tide is in we have to follow the lane below the inn which will lead to the engine house.

From here we will follow the lane to the old Mill Pools at Penpol before heading uphill inland through peaceful Cornish countryside and woods. Beginning our descent, we have to negotiate a rather overgrown footpath and then wend our way back down to the lane by Restronguet Creek that we set out on. The pub is only a short distance away.

A very pleasurable walk in June, I particularly enjoyed the narrow trackways covered in wildflowers and the different stiles. I think the metal gate at point 9 is missing but we spotted the way back into the woods and the yellow arrows are clearly marked. Thoroughly recommended walk, a little longer than stated.
