From the busy A635, head towards Holmbridge, walking along Nether Lane on the hillside above Digley Reservoir and entering Holmbridge alongside the River Holme, a very pretty valley. Climb up to part of the Holme Valley Circular Walk, stopping for lunch at the picnic tables above Ramsden Reservoir. The Fleece Inn in Holme is a convenient stop for a drink, then it's the moors and Issues Road. Cross the lower slopes of Black Hill to Blackpool Bridge, a local beauty spot on a hot day.

This is a walk of great variety and one to be savoured.

Did this walk on boxing day - despite a bleak and misty start, I really enjoyed it - instructions where clear and the paths in good condition. The highlight was hearing the brass band in Holmebridge in the distance

Did this walk Saturday 19th October 2019. The directions are excellent and a credit to the author. Really enjoyed it. Paths are good and styles mostly good. Just a couple of points. At WP07 head in a half right direction to the bottom righthand corner of the field where the style is. If I where to do it again I would start & finish in Holmbridge thereby removing the start and finish section from the road which is just open moorland. Blackpool bridge has been demolished to make way for a new one due completion end of November 2019. The ford is passably with care. I clocked the walk as almost 9.5miles on my GPS and we didn't really put a foot wrong.

Did this 23/04/15 in glorious sunshine. Directions OK but a little vague in parts. All in all a cracking walk with some great views of God's County!

25/04/09 Please note that the footpath at waymark 17 is closed until end Jul 09 due to construction work. This means you have to add at least 1 mile to walk to complete it. (Go right at diversion and follow road downhill to public footpath that crosses Brownhill Res. Then turn left and walk uphill along A6024 till reach waypoint 18 at Holme village). Walk is good but has a lot of ups and downs!! Start and finish bleak but middle section makes up for it. Gary
