This walk should be easy for most walkers. It is on well worn paths or quiet metalled roads and although parts can be muddy after periods of heavy rain, it should be accessible at all times of the year. It is an excellent walk for dogs with plenty of open fields and woods to explore although make sure you check for livestock before releasing your dog from its lead.
The walk offers excellent views over the Vale of Glamorgan from the high point near Waymark 8. On a clear day you can see down to Rhoose and the impressive British Airways Hangar at Cardiff International Airport to the West. A little further on, just as you reach the Golf Course you should be able to see across Dinas Powys, Penarth to the Bristol Channel and the English Coast.
During the walk there is an excellent chance to see wildlife as the path passes through woods and close to a river. Geese, ducks, squirrels, foxes, kestrels and buzzards are all a common sight in the area in addition to the cows and sheep found in some of the fields. If you encounter livestock in a field, keep your dog on a lead and skirt around the edge of the field, keeping away from the animals.
