Walk starts from car park on south side of Ribchester Bridge. Having crossed the bridge the route follows the north bank of the River Ribble, with good riverside views before a short climb giving good views over the Ribble Valley. The river is then crossed again via Dinckley Bridge to begin return along south bank of the river before entering a woodland section. Final part of walk is across open countryside and the route of the Roman Road into Ribchester. Historic town of Ribchester is worth a visit for its Roman remains and refreshments.
