From Dirleton Village walk part of the John Muir Way and turn off to reach the coast opposite the islet of Fidra.

This is a 'there-and-back' walk, with you determining the 'there'. My 'there' is just short of Gullane Bay, after three miles. Just retrace your steps when you've seen enough of the fine Lothian Coast scenery. On your way back, the Bass Rock is in plain view, as is North Berwick Law, a dramatic volcanic plug rising just south of the town.

Dirleton is reminiscent of an attractive English village, with pretty cottages, church, pub and large green (one of three) where one can easily imagine the thwack of willow on leather. As well as these delights, there is also Dirleton Castle and its lovely gardens, open all year round.
