Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track, this circular walk is along footpaths close to Chester which are not often used. The route is generally quite flat and has some very interesting features waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. However, the route will need careful navigation as footpaths may not be visible and difficult to follow; and several fields need to be walked straight over. The walk should only be undertaken by experienced hikers as stiles and footbridges are slippery with moss and some stiles are now missing due to recent re-opening following a long closure. The section descriptions will warn you of these. Only the last two gates are kissing gates.
The walk is probably most suitable for older teenagers, agile senior citizens and anyone in-between. It's dangerous for children as a high speed dual carriageway is crossed twice and this needs extreme caution. The route is poor for dogs as most of the stiles are unfriendly, and hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and stout, but boots will be best in winter or if there has recently been heavy rain as the gateways could be muddy with numerous puddles and the fields quite soggy. Apart from some stiles being a bit overgrown with hawthorn & brambles (taking some small secateurs may be very useful), there should be few problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no facilities of any kind on this walk.
