This is a delightful walk in the south of Moray, on the Glenlivet Estate. The early part is along the River Livet, passing many attractive pools overhung by alders; the return climbs a little from the river and wends its way back on good paths with beautiful views to the Cromdale Hills. A few metres from the car park are the ruins of Drumin Castle, dating from the 14th Century. It was one of the strongholds of the Wolf of Badenoch (another is to be seen on Walk 626). Also on the route is a museum of many artefacts of life in the Highlands in the past, while a mile away is the Glenlivet Distillery (NJ 195290), where there is a visitor centre (with refreshments). It's a very pleasant family walk (dog too) which may be lengthened by adding the nearby Walk 3872.
