The walk has of course, its share of busy streets, but Dulwich Park is quiet and Sydenham Hill Wood, a local nature reserve, could be miles from a city. There are ample places for refreshments and a great deal of interest for, beside the walk, there is the opportunity to visit both the Horniman Museum and Dulwich Picture Gallery. Apart from the woodland section the terrain is firm, but I didn't find the mud there too bad considering the summer we've had (2012). There are children's playgrounds and cafes in Dulwich Park and the Horniman and a good vista of London, including now The Shard, from the viewpoint in the Horniman Gardens.
