Dunchurch - Bunkers Hill - Draycote Water - Toft - Dunchurch

Despite its relatively easy walking conditions, walking-boots are recommended and several stiles must be crossed en route. Dunchurch Village, whilst retaining an old-world charm, benefits from many amenities including a good choice of restaurants and is a great place to finish a country walk. There is ample space for free parking at the village centre.

The descent of the first part of the walk offers some great views across the valley; the middle section provides the opportunity for a picnic on the grassy banks beside Draycote Water; and the last stretch provides an opportunity to get up close and personal with the alpacas of Toft Manor. At the end of the walk and before leaving Dunchurch, a visit to the old coaching inn which is the Dun Cow is an essential treat.

The problem raised by Sonia caused by a temporary 'bridge' over a ditch following a period of flooding at point 7 has been resolved with the erection of a modern gate and a wide and substantial and safe bridge.

Did this walk with a group on 5.4.14. Very clear instructions. However, when reaching point 7 we came across a problem. Crossing the deep ditch from the stile there was only a single loose plank (no more than 2 feet wide). This rested on the bottom of the stile on to the grass on the other side. There was no supporting rail. One of our party was very frightened and I think it spoiled the walk for her. I would therefore not recommend this walk to anyone who wasn't fit. I will send a photo when a friend of mine gives it to me.
