Leave the car park and turn right and then right again on a farm track, which is soon left for a long walk eastwards across pastures and through farmyards to the village of Newton (with toilets and inn). From here the route goes north for a little before swinging to the west for the return leg.

Super start to this walk and the views from the track between WP10 and 12 were simply marvelous. However - after Laythams Farm at WP15 it was very difficult to follow, so much so I ignored the instructions and relied totally on GPS. Thankfully picked it up again at WP22 down into Newton and discovered the handy benches. I managed to find Gamble Hole Farm although I did miss the stile and the metal gate at WP26. Here I did not understand the instructions at all and instead passed right in front of the farm, through a gate and then aimed for the gate mentioned at WP28 diagonally across a large field where two walls made a right angle. The demolished bridge mentioned at WP26 is now nice and new. No navigation problems after that. I don't know when Jim surveyed this route but this was probably the hardest walk to follow on here since I started using Walkingworld! As a post script At WP8 there is a gate down to the stream and the ladder stile at WP12 is on a bearing of 090 degrees but there is only a ladder on the near side - you have to clamber over the other side so be careful!

A great walk, but the directions are not always clear on Point 7 it is best to bear left after climbing the step bank as the wire fence is still to your left if you continue straight on which is exactly what we did!
