Durham City – Neville's Cross – Skirted Bearpark - Whitesmocks – Sniperley Park-and-Ride

This is a linear walk that begins with parking at the Sniperley Park-and-Ride car park and then catching the P&R bus into Durham City to start the walk. From the Framwellgate bus stop in the city the walk crosses Framwellgate Bridge to enter the Peninsula. After visiting the Market Place the route passes through the cathedral complex before leaving the Peninsula across Prebends Bridge. From the bridge the walk rises through fields to pass the University Observatory and enter the suburb of Neville's Cross. From here, field- and wood-walking takes the walker to the very pleasant Lanchester Valley Railway Path. After leaving the railway path the route takes to lanes and fields followed by a little pavement-walking that delivers the walker back to Sniperley Park-and-Ride car park.
