The countryside round Earby has an amazing number of footpaths. The walk rambles in and out of both Yorkshire and Lancashire and goes along the towpath of the Leeds - Liverpool Canal. There are fine views of some of the southerly summits of the Dales as well as of those of Lancashire. The walk is based on a large lay-by where there is an up-market refreshment van seven days a week, but a pub is only 100m away.

Rolling hills and flat walking on good paths and towpaths on this interesting walk. We took a couple of detours to walk by the canal a little longer. First at waymark 9, taking the footpath behind the Rolls Royce factory, then at WM 11 continued to Cockshott bridge and took the Pennine Bridleway left to meet WM 15, adds about a mile. At WM 17 the narrower white chimney can't be seen as trees now hide it. Super walk with good walking details. Thank you Jim for this and the other walks we've done on our Lancashire holiday!

Good walk with dog. Had to lift over 2 stiles (small dog).
