From the parking area at the golf club, you soon pass Earls Colne Airfield where there are great photo opportunities. From here you follow quiet country lanes, a few field-paths and also pass through five different woodlands with excellent paths before arriving at Marks Hall Country Estate. Here you can choose to walk around the grounds with its lakes, arboretum, woodland walks and a deer-park before resuming the walk back to Earls Colne.
All paths were clear apart from a muddy section in Bungate Wood. For refreshments there is The Compasses pub at Pattiswick, also at the visitor centre at Marks Hall.
This is an excellent walk for all the family.
