Starting in the beautiful Suffolk village of East Bergholt, this short circular route also passes through the lovely village of Dedham in Essex using field paths, country lanes, and a section beside the River Stour, before returning back via Flatford Mill to East Bergholt.
There are plenty of places to visit along this route (see list below) and there are plenty of refreshment outlets along the route too, including tea shops, pubs, a cafe and a food shop. The views really are spectacular making this an ideal family stroll with plenty of photo opportunities.
A list of the places worth visiting are as follows, at Flatford Mill, you have the RSPB garden and visitor centre, Willy Lots Cottage, Bridge Cottage and visitor centre, and a small gallery depicting Constable's paintings. In Dedham, you have a few shops plus the arts and craft centre which spans three floors, and a beautiful church. In East Bergholt, St Mary's church is well worth a look.
All paths were clear, apart from one at waymark 4 where the first part of the path was overgrown with nettles (September 2023).
