This circular walk starts at the 15th Century Olde Ferrie Inn and follows the River Wye through Symonds Yat West and the Biblins Youth Campsite, before crossing the river and following the old railway line to Symonds Yat East. Yat Rock is then climbed to enjoy the magnificent views before the walk continues round a big meander in the Wye to recross the river and return to the start. There are plenty of pubs en route and in the summer, numerous stalls for tea, coffee and ice cream. The walk could be muddy after rain and one part could be slippy as it heads downhill.

Great walk. Blocked by fallen tree at point 8. Do not turn left at the signpost. Keep straight on and there is another path off to the left which brings you out a bit further up the track. As previously mentioned lots of nettles.

This is an excellent walk alongside the River Wye and climbing up to Yat Rock where the views are stunning, However, we did this walk in late June and it needs pointing out that the pathway described at Waymark 9 is difficult to follow and in places virtually impassable, as it is completely overgrown with nettles, brambles and long grass. Unfortunately we were wearing shorts and got badly stung! Unless there is someone with a strimmer who can sort this out, I recommend that this walk is not undertaken in the Summer months!!

Parking is no longer available at the Ferrie Inn. The nearest (pay & display) car park is at Sterrett’s Caravan Park, Symonds Yat West, Symonds Yat, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6BY.

A delightful walk through beautiful woodlands, however at Waymark 8 there is a problem. You cannot turn left at the signpost to Ross and Welsh Bicknor due to the footpath being closed as the steps have deteriorated very badly. The notice advises this is from March 2014 so worth monitoring to see if they do get replaced. I had to retrace my steps and the walk via the road, not too much of problem not as pleasant

Some on lead road walking but mostly paths through fields and woodlands, Exposure to livestock likely (so a 3 rather than a 4)
