This walk starts and finishes from the delightful twin villages of Eastleach Turville and Martin on the River Leach. Eastleach is a little visited chocolate box Cotswold Village and well worth a visit and stroll around. The outward leg is across open and unspoilt countryside with far reaching views and the return mainly follows the banks of the Leach (dried up in summer). Of particular interest is the Roman crossing of the river by Akeman Street, with evidence of associated Roman terracing and ancient field systems and also the two churches of the twin villages in the valley. The village pub is also worthy of a post walk visit.

As the new 'owner' of this walk, I have re-walked and clarified the descriptions of waymarkers and the start point and this is all included in an updated version. Hopefully the issues previously noted are now resolved and you will enjoy a fab walk in a quiet area of the Cotswolds that is well worth the visit.

Did this walk on 1st October 2020 and as stated back in 2004, this walk does NOT start at the School House. Instead it starts at the Hall. In addition, the distance is 6.6 miles and not 5 as stated. However, that aside, it is a fabulous walk, great scenery and views. The dog was off her lead most of the time, except where we came across some livestock on occasions. The Victoria Inn is very close to where the walk starts and well worth a visit at the end.

Thank you for the update and amendments, these will be investigated. Walkingworld DO recommend that OS maps are taken on the walks along with the provided print outs as it is always possible (and sometimes necessary) to go off course occasionally and the map with a larger area is essential at these times.

Nice walk but not everyone has OS maps. The start of the walk is the Eastleach village hall not the school house which quite a distance. At 6 should read, after going through gap in wall turn left keeping woods on left and fields on right.
