This walk is mostly easy, though some paths are on the rocky side; the area is well-walked and climbed (on Froggatt Edge). The only area that can be tricky to find is the start of the descent from Froggatt Edge to the pub in the middle of this walk.

The popularity of this area seems to show how difficult the path is. Froggatt Edge is about as quiet as walking down the High Street of your local town over the weekend, even with families with pushchairs! (struggling). All of the tricky walking areas are on the outward route; the return is much easier, but in places a quick check of the map may be necessary.

The paths on the last section are not shown on Ordnance Survey maps, being concessionary paths within the Chatsworth House Estate, (usually free access but at times, during special events, access may be restricted or a small charge levied). They are however, waymarked and well-maintained, with some parts open to creative interpretation. Some worn tracks can be nothing more than sheep trails.

The pub in the middle of this walk,'The Chequers', only tolerates walkers, which is surprising considering how many people walk this area. The menu is good if pricey and they offer a good choice of beers. There is a beer-garden accessible through the pub.

The permissive path through the Chatsworth estate proved a little tricky to follow. The finger post shown in the photo at point 31 is no longer there, and from point 32 it was quite hard to find the wooden stile over the fence into the deer park - there is no helpful signage. Also the path between points 7 and 8 was quite overgrown by tall bracken.

Good walk. Chequers seemed very welcoming. We did have to remove our boots but only after asking the question of the helpful staff.
