As you move away from the village you take a level rural path past the sides of a field. Following this, a farm track then leads you gently upwards. This then gives way to a steeper section through rougher scrubland. The route then gets much steeper before reaching the top of the hill, which is the site of an old prehistoric hill-fort whose double outer walls' remains are still visible. Aerial views (available online) still show clearly a series of concentric circles.
After reaching the summit the route descends on the other side of the hill. Next comes a section through rough moorland. This then passes down an avenue of mature trees before following a less distinct path through more woodland. After rising slightly the route completes a circle before returning to the start.
